BLACK DIAMOND MINES REGIONAL PRESERVE - Ever wonder why so many trees seem to be growing spheres, diamonds, or stars on their leaves and branches? Seemingly hidden in plain sight, these galls emerge from complex relationships between plants and animals. Learn about their amazing world and discover stories of manipulation, growth and reproduction on this 2–3-mile walk.
Great for ages 8+. Expect moderate incline and paved/unpaved terrain. Meet at the upper parking lot, at the end of Somersville Rd., 1 mile past the entry kiosk. Extreme weather may cancel - check website or call 510-544-2750 morning of for updates.
$5 parking fee when entry kiosk is staffed.
