From Save Mount Diablo:
Walk along the Beautiful Sand Creek Area in Antioch
5092 Mesa Ridge Dr., Antioch, CA
Saturday, May 23 • 9 AM - 11 AM
Overview
Badgers might come and say hello again!
Please join us at 9:00 AM on Saturday, May 23, at the intersection of Mesa Ridge Drive and Empire Mine Road (5092 Mesa Ridge Drive) in Antioch for an approximately three-mile walk.
We'll hike along paved Empire Mine Road to view the beautiful Sand Creek area.
Find how you can help shape Antioch’s General Plan update to protect this great recreational trail, and the hills, creek, and grassland forming the largest and most beautiful unprotected open space in the city.
We’ll talk about the wildlife found here, threats, and ways we can help make Antioch more safe, fun, clean, and beautiful.
We’ve seen a badger on this walk before, and you never know, one might show up again to say hi!
The Sand Creek area will be affected by Antioch’s General Plan update.
We want existing park land to be buffered and expanded, made more accessible to Antioch residents, and showcased as one of Antioch’s great strengths.
If you want to have some fun, enjoy the scenery and learn more, join us!
Bring water, comfortable walking shoes, a hat, sunblock, and anything else you like, such as a camera and binoculars.
The path will be paved, and you can easily turn back at any time. We expect the walk to last about two hours.
